Mentors at Fairfax HS Support Students Several Ways
During January—National Mentoring Month—we’re looking at different mentoring programs around the county that benefit mentees. Fairfax High has two different mentoring programs, both of which feature staff members serving as mentors to students. Check and Connect is attendance-based mentoring, and the other is Caring Adult Mentoring. Both programs take place during the school day. Approximately 25 faculty members have been trained to serve as mentors and participate in quarterly events and weekly mentoring with students. A favorite event is the mentoring potluck, where mentors bring dishes to share and have informal conversations with mentees during grab and go lunches. Contact Gisele Gray at email@example.com.
