Longfellow Middle School Chamber Orchestra Performs at Midwest Clinic
The Longfellow Middle Chamber Orchestra performed at the 72nd annual Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference in Chicago, one of three middle schools to represent the United States. The Midwest Clinic International Conference is the highest world-wide recognition for any performing band or orchestra group; selection for the event is considered a music educator’s highest career achievement. Invitation to the Midwest Clinic is Longfellow Orchestra’s biggest accomplishment yet, because it is the program’s first ever international recognition. No Fairfax County Public School performing group has been invited in the last 12 years, and no string orchestra group from FCPS has been selected in the past 30 years. The Longfellow Chamber Orchestra is under the direction of Bomin Collins, director, and Jacqueline Robertson, associate director. Contact news liaison Riley Barrows at firstname.lastname@example.org.
