Lake Braddock SS Band to Premiere Work Written for U.S. Armed Services
The Lake Braddock Secondary Band will premiere a work written for the U.S. Armed Services at its band concert on Thursday, May 23, at 7 p.m. Lake Braddock’s band is part of a consortium that commissioned a piece of music honoring the men and women of the Armed Services. It began as a single movement for the U.S. Air Force Band, formerly under the direction of Col. Larry Lang. Lang was so pleased with the work that he convinced the composer to build a consortium of band directors from across the nation to commission more movements for the rest of the service branches. Lake Braddock’s band joined in the effort to honor its many parents who serve in our military. The symphony, titled ”Heroes” by Onsby C. Rose, will be performed by the Lake Braddock Symphonic Band. It includes four movements: From Sea, From Above, From Land, and For the Fallen.
