Lake Anne ES Eco-School Team Presents at U.S. Green Building Council

eco teamLake Anne Elementary’s Eco-School team was invited to present at the second annual Student Innovation Showcase at the U.S. Green Building Council in Washington, D.C. Designed as a science-fair style showcase, students were able to share their work on protecting the environment with the community, city officials, campus, and district representatives. Lake Anne has received six Eco-Audit Grant awards from EcoRise, a national organization that challenges a new generation of leaders to design a sustainable future. The school will be receiving a total of $2,581.82 in grants this spring. Funds from these projects will improve the existing learning gardens, create an herb garden and composting system, create a nature trail, and help supply tools for upkeep to enhance the public spaces on school grounds.
