Karen Keys-Gamarra Wins At-Large Seat on Fairfax County School Board

Karen Keys-Gamarra, an attorney and child advocate, won election to the Fairfax County School Board in a special election that was held August 29. Keys-Gamarra won the at-large seat formerly held by Jeanette Hough, who resigned in May.

Her term will run through December 31, 2019.

“I am delighted to welcome Karen Keys-Gamarra to the Fairfax County School Board,” said Board chair Jane Strauss. “The Board has some vital work in its future. I look forward to working with Karen and welcome her contributions to the Board and the school district.”

Keys-Gamarra will be sworn in at the next School Board meeting, scheduled for Thursday, September 14, at Jackson Middle School.
