Highlights from the October 20, 2016 Regular School Board Meeting
The October 20, 2016, regular meeting of the School Board opened with a performance of the National Anthem by the Annandale HS Singers under the direction of Patrick Vaughn. The School Board recognized Native American Heritage Month, Dyslexia Awareness Month, National Career Development Month, and National Red Ribbon Week. The Board adopted a revision to Policy 1802, Student Representative to the School Board.
Stephen S. Fuller, Ph.D., Dwight Schar Faculty Chair and University professor and a Senior Advisor and Director for Special Projects for the Center for Regional Analysis at George Mason University, presented his study, “The Impacts of the Fairfax County Public Schools’ FY 2017 Budgeted Outlays on the Fairfax County Economy.”
The School Board voted to award a contract for the South Lakes High School Addition Project to Branch and Associates, Inc.
The next regular business meeting of the School Board will be on Thursday, November 3, 2016.
