school psychology staffFairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) School Psychology Services has been recognized in the Excellence in School Psychological Services Recognition Program with an Exemplary rating from the National Association of School Psychologists. FCPS was the only school district in the U.S. to receive an Exemplary rating, the highest rating available.

This is the first year that NASP has offered a recognition program for its member school districts.
School districts were evaluated on six organizational principles (organization of service delivery; climate; physical, personnel, and fiscal support systems; professional communication; supervision and mentoring; and professional development and recognition systems) as critical to enabling school psychologists to practice their comprehensive roles across 10 domains. FCPS’s School Psychology Services received perfect scores in organization and service delivery, climate, supervision and mentoring, and professional development and recognition.

NASP evaluators made the following comments about the FCPS submission: “Fairfax demonstrates a well-organized, comprehensive, and planful approach in the delivery of school psychological services across the district. Fairfax has a strong infrastructure to support a comprehensive role for school psychology service delivery. They possess a model supervision and mentoring program.”

NASP designed the recognition program to highlight the value of school psychologists as they work to improve outcomes for students and schools; provide a continuous improvement framework and incentives; and empower school psychologists to improve services to students, families, and schools.
