FCPS Safety Tip Line Number Changes

poster with tipline informationTo help keep schools safe, students, staff members, families, and members of the community are urged to use the Fairfax County Public Schools tip line to report any school safety issues or concerns.

The text number has changed to 888-777; keyword TIP FCPS. New posters have been placed in all schools across the system promoting the new number and keyword. 

All information is treated as anonymous and confidential. FCPS has begun an information campaign to include posters and safety messages to all schools across the division. 

“The tip line has proven to be incredibly helpful to keeping our schools safe,” said Tom Vaccarello, director of safety and security for FCPS. “Anyone can use the tip line to report unsafe or dangerous situations such as threats, drug use, theft, harassment, gang activity, weapons, or vandalism,” he said, “It takes all of us to keep our students, staff, and community as safe as we possibly can.”

The tip line allows users to submit tips in three ways:
1.    Telephone: 571-423-2020 (leave voice mail, same number)
2.    Text: 888-777 keyword; TIP FCPS (new text number and keyword) 
3.    Online: information and instructions on how to report
