Cunningham Park Sixth Graders Research Career Choices
Students in the sixth grade at Cunningham Park Elementary explored possible career choices for their future using content-based research. They began the project by listing positive character traits about themselves and then translated those traits into possible career choices. Students then did research on the career choice, learned about the possible training and schooling needed, and identified the Portrait of a Graduate skills necessary to work in this specific profession. They created presentations, which were first shared within homerooms, then shared with parents, teachers, and other classmates at the What’s Next? fair. Guests were treated to demonstrations, digital presentations, and tri-fold presentation boards while students practiced the Portrait of a Graduate skills of being communicators.
