Blended Learning for Language Learning at South Lakes HS
Spanish International Baccalaureate (IB) 2 seniors at South Lakes High have concluded a two-year virtual cultural exchange with their partner school in Argentina. Part of their IB diploma program curriculum was driven by ongoing digital interactions that facilitated and enriched students’ language learning experiences with a focus on cultural topics, making learning deeper, more meaningful, and authentic. This project was the result of the collaborative work of South Lakes teacher Ana Viamonte and Virginia Muro at Colegio Sol de Funes in Rosario, Argentina. They designed and aligned their curricula to maximize learning outcomes and to help realize the vision that we learn independently, but we also learn together and from each other. The project was intended to promote Portrait of a Graduate attributes and the IB mission of “creating a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.” Contact news liaison Emily Burrell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
