The Fairfax Alliance of Black School Educators (FABSE) has announced a series of events in honor of Black History Month, including African American art, literature, and film. Due to the pandemic, the 2021 events are virtual. Events include:

• Service, Health, and Wellness: FABSE is hosting a virtual Scholarship 5K or 1K run February 15-March 31. Sign up is open February 15 through March 31; donations will be accepted through April 30. All proceeds go to the FABSE Scholarship Fund for graduating seniors. Students can apply online through March 12; check the FABSE website for details. 
• Read-in and Diversity in Literacy: FABSE is hosting a Diversity Book Drive via Amazon Wishlist. All books will be donated to FCPS elementary schools on behalf of FABSE members. 
• Arts and Culture: “One Night in Miami” movie discussion. See the FABSE website for more information.
• Food, Fellowship, and History: FABSE will host a virtual social event on Friday, February 26, at 6 p.m.

At its February 4 business meeting, the Fairfax County School Board passed a resolution honoring Black History Month.
