Doreen Cronin’s first grade teacher told her that she would be a writer. After practicing law for a few years, the author said, “I left my job and decided to write full time. I’ve been writing ever since! Thank you, Mrs. Cooper!”

Doreen Cronin has written for children of all ages, from the middle grade novel, Cyclone, to picture books and The Chicken Squad chapter books. She is the New York Times bestselling author of many picture books, including Click, Clack, Surprise!; Click, Clack, Ho, Ho, Ho; Click, Clack, Peep; Click, Clack, Boo!; Dooby Dooby Moo; Thump, Quack, Moo: A Whacky Adventure; Bounce; Wiggle; Duck for President; Giggle, Giggle, Quack; and Bloom.

Her first collaboration with illustrator Betsy Lewin was the Caldecott Honor Book Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type. Betsy Lewin wrote and illustrated stories for children’s magazines. When her editor asked her to expand one of those stories into a picture book, Betsy Lewin says, “I jumped at the chance. I’ve been doing picture books ever since and loving every moment.”

Betsy Lewin’s art is usually drawn in pen or brush with watercolor washes. Her illustrations for Duck for President was a New York Times 10 Best Illustrated Books in 2005.

During the live webcast, students can call in and talk to the author & illustrator about storytelling, teamwork, whatever is on their minds.
