Double Robots are helping homebound students attend class virtually. The Office of Out-of-School Support works with approximately 650 students who receive homebound instruction each year. For students who are homebound due to illness, a pilot program known as Double Robot—which began in January 2016—offers them the opportunity to attend class virtually so they can stay on top of their work. The Double Robot helps students stay current in a cost-effective way by using mobile telepresence devices in the students’ home and the classroom.
