Evans is a parent advocate, community leader, and former reporter and staff writer for The Washington Post. She has a bachelor of science in journalism from the University of Maryland-College Park. She has served with the School Board’s School Health Advisory Committee (chairman); School Board’s Transportation Task Force; Northern Virginia Healthy Kids Coalition (steering committee member); Fairfax Education Coalition (founding member); Start Later for Excellence in Education Proposal (co-founder of SLEEP); Fairfax County Council of PTAs (legislation committee chairman); and Sleepy Hollow Elementary School PTA (former PTA president). Evans is the mother of two daughters. She has served as the Board chairman and vice chair. She has been on the Board since March 2010.
