FCPS Grab and Go Meals

USDA and VDOE have approved meal service at all existing food distribution sites (including bus routes) over the summer months.  Food and Nutrition Services will continue to monitor data and community feedback to adjust grab and go delivery points as needed.  Meal distribution information is kept current on the FCPS website.

Sending Kids Back To School Is A ‘Gamble’ Between Health And Survival, Parents Say

https://wamu.org/story/20/06/29/sending-kids-back-to-school-is-a-gamble-between-health-and-survival-parents-say/

VDOE Q and A

Will VDOE cancel Standards of Learning (SOL) testing? At this time SOL tests scheduled for the 2020-2021 school year will be administered as scheduled.  Should the United States Department of Education offer a waiver for testing required under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act for 2020-2021, Virginia will apply.

What SOL tests will school divisions administer when schools reopen? The only SOL tests that school divisions will administer in Summer 2020 or upon students returning to school will be the end-of-course SOL tests that students take to earn verified credits toward meeting their graduation requirements.

What is the impact on SAT administration? The College Board will provide weekend SAT administrations every month through the end of the calendar year, beginning in August. This includes scheduled test administrations on August 29, September 26, October 3, November 7, and December 5. Read more at CollegeBoard.org.

Did you know that Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) has Parent Information Phone Lines to support parents in our eight most common languages staffed by bi-lingual employees?

Parents, who would feel more comfortable communicating in their first language, can call the Parent Information Phone Lines Monday-Friday and access live, bi-lingual (sometimes multilingual) employees.

Our phone line staff is also available to FCPS staff who want to connect with parents in the parent’s first language.

Phone Line Staff can help with the following:

Basic needs resources (food, utilities, shelter)

Translating and interpreting of FCPS information and communications
