Collect for Kids
Collect for Kids aims to ensure that every child in Fairfax County is prepared for school by having the school supplies necessary succeed.
Since it began in 2010, the Collect for Kids network has helped distribute more than 150,000 school supply kits and backpacks to disadvantaged youth. Today however, approximately 55,000 students in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) receive Free or Reduced-Price Meals – so the needs persist.
Why Support Collect for Kids
We can turn $1 into $3 of school supplies and provide a student with a new backpack filled with school supplies for about $20.
A Robust and Connected Group of Partners Makes Collect for Kids Work
The entire effort, which involves representatives from 15 partners and over 60 supporters, resulted in significantly more students receiving backpacks and quality school supplies to start the past school year than ever before. While maintaining the autonomy and passion of each organization is an integral part of Collect for Kids, so is collaboration and economy of scale. In 2018, our partners and supporters served just over 26,000 students in Fairfax County.
The Collect for Kids program is an exceptional way to support students and student learning.
The 2018 Collect for Kids campaign focused on two main areas: monetary and backpack donations.
