Your Time Away from Work

Standard Holidays, Accrued Leave, Extended Absences, and Disability Benefits

March 1, 2020 – Leave of Absence (LOA) Application Due!

Employees who intend to request or extend a Leave of Absence (LOA) for the 2020-2021 school must indicate their intentions before/by March 1, 2020. Employees currently on an approved LOA will need to indicate whether they intend to extend (if applicable), return to work, or pursue other options. Additional information about leaves of absences and the application process can be found on the FCPS Leaves of Absence website.

The list of standard holidays recognized by FCPS can be viewed here.

Types of Leave

Contracted full-time and part-time employees accrue sick, personal, and/or annual paid leave days.

Extended Absences

All employees who have worked for FCPS for at least 12 months may be eligible for an absence qualified under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Some employees may also qualify for a longer unpaid Leave of Absence (LOA). You can view more information about these extended absences here.

Disability Benefits

The Integrated Disability Management (IDM) Program consists of workers compensation, short-term disability, and long-term disability. As part of the IDM program, Liberty Mutual/Lincoln Financial oversees employee disability benefits, release, and return to work (when appropriate). Information about these programs can be found here.
