Employee Wellness Program

Helping Employees Stay Healthy

The Employee Wellness Program provides all FCPS staff with wellness initiatives, support, and resources to enhance their overall health and wellbeing. Our goal is to educate, empower, excite, and energize all FCPS employees to engage in a healthy lifestyle for better work/life balance, improved health, and increased productivity.  The program is administered through the Office of Benefit Services in the Office of Financial Services.

Employee Wellness Incentive Program

FCPS has made an ongoing commitment to help our employees stay healthy and take care of their well-being. As part of this commitment, we want to encourage employees to prioritize their health by scheduling their annual preventive care appointments. To promote participation, employees enrolled in an FCPS health plan (Cigna or Kaiser) have the opportunity to earn up to a $100 gift card by completing their health plan's preventive care requirements by December 31. (You must be the primary cardholder to be eligible for a reward.) You can view your health plan's wellness incentive details, including instructions for getting started, on the Employee Wellness Incentives Hub webpage.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Employee Assistance Program (EAP), with Guidance Resources, is a free benefit for employees and their household members to help achieve a stronger work-life balance through no-cost confidential counseling, legal support, financial information, and other resources.

Employee Flu Shot Program

Free seasonal flu immunizations for active FCPS employees are available through the Employee Wellness Program. This includes hourly, temporary, and substitute employees on active assignment at an FCPS site. Employees must show their FCPS ID to qualify. FCPS schools and offices hold flu shot clinics for their staff onsite. For more information and/or to make an appointment, visit the FCPS Employee Hub.

Gym and Fitness Discounts

FCPS employees age 18 and older can access the Gatehouse Fitness Center located inside the Gatehouse Administration Center for free after filling out a participation agreement form. Individual worksites can also coordinate after/before work fitness classes with private fitness instructors if they follow the guidelines in Attachment F of Community Use Regulation 8420.

Savings for Staff is a program that offers discounts on hundreds of local and national products and services to FCPS employees. These offers include deals on wellness products, gyms, exercise classes, and more. This program is available to all FCPS employees, including retirees and new hires.

Participants of our health insurance vendors can also take advantage of gym and fitness discounts through their health insurance plan’s wellness programs. Please visit your health provider’s microsite below for more information.

Wellbeats Wellness Platform

FCPS employees can access Wellbeats, the on-demand fitness and wellbeing platform. Wellbeats provides a variety of ways to live a healthy life through virtual fitness, nutrition, and mindfulness classes. Lactation Support Program

In conjunction with Section 4207 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (also known as the Health Care Reform), Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) provides a supportive environment to enable lactating employees "reasonable break times" and private, non-restroom locations to express their milk during the workday for the first year of the child's life. FCPS also subscribes to the Code of Virginia 22.1-79.6, which applies to any mother who is employed by the local school board or enrolled as a student.

The Employee Wellness Program provides talks, workshops, webinars, and health exhibits for small and large groups upon request.
