International Baccalaureate Courses

The IB programs create students ready to live, learn, and work in a rapidly globalized world.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) offers high quality programs of international education to a worldwide community of schools including Fairfax County Public Schools. At the heart of the IB mission is the creation of a better world through education. Students earn high school credit towards graduation requirements by passing the IB Diploma Program (DP) course. Students may also earn college credit by taking the IB DP exam associated with their course and earning a specific score that is determined by each individual college. Students enrolled in IB DP courses are strongly encouraged to take the culminating IB DP exams

IB DB exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 7 and each college sets a required score to transfer credits or provide advanced placement in college. The links below provide details of the IB transfer policies for some four-year Virginia public colleges and universities, as well as Northern Virginia Community College.
