Occupational Therapy Services

Occupational therapists work to address a student's ability to access and participate in school activities.

In order to determine a student's needs in the educational setting and to develop interventions, Occupational Therapy (OT) assesses:

  • The demands of required activities and the environment.
  • The student's participation and roles/routines within the school environment.
  • The motor performance and self-regulation of the student.

Interventions may include:

  • Collaborating with school teams to promote successful school performance for individuals or groups of students.
  • Conducting workshops or in-service training.
  • Consulting with teachers, parents, and other members of the school team.
  • Co-leading classes or group with a teacher or another school professional.
  • Working with students individually or in small groups.

OT services are centrally administered and available in all FCPS schools. School teams collaborate to determine if a student may require consultation or evaluation by OT.

  • Consultation
  • Evaluation for students receiving special education or being evaluated for special education services.
