Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology Admissions
The Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST) Admissions Office manages the application process for students applying for admission.
The TJHSST Admissions Office is responsible for administering an objective, equitable admissions process to the school, supporting its goal to serve a diverse student population demonstrating excellence and passion for science, technology, engineering, and math.
The Admissions Office operates independently of the school.
TJHSST is a Governor’s School; students are selected through a competitive admissions process. The majority of students enter TJHSST in their freshman (ninth grade) year after participating in the winter round of freshman admissions, which begins in late September of a student’s eighth grade year. There is a freshman summer round admissions process for eighth grade students who move to a participating school division after September 30; it begins in late February of the eighth grad year.
A limited number of students are admitted to the sophomore (10th grade) and junior (11th grade) classes each year. TJHSST does not admit students to its senior class.
In addition to Fairfax County (including the City of Fairfax), participating school divisions are Arlington County, Falls Church City, Loudoun County, and Prince William County.
