The Fairfax Community Criminal Justice Board was established in 1995 according to Virginia law and a joint agreement between Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax.

Purpose

The CCJB represents, foremost, the interests and concerns of the citizens. Its purpose is to enhance the ability of Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax to develop pretrial court services, community-based corrections programs, juvenile accountability and other criminal justice programs. In particular, the CCJB makes recommendations to the appropriate officials—including the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and the Fairfax City Council—for improvements and innovations to enhance the quality and availability of services.

The CCJB also facilitates local involvement and flexibility in reviewing criminal justice grants, regardless of the source of funding.

Meetings

Regular public meetings of the CCJB are scheduled for the fourth Thursday of each month and are held in the fifth floor Circuit Court jury assembly area of the Fairfax County Courthouse.

Notification of regular meetings is made by electronic mail or other means requested by the member. Public meeting notification is posted on the Fairfax County Web site and on the entry door to the jury assembly area.

The Chair of the CCJB may cancel or reschedule regular meetings as necessary. The CCJB is in recess during July and August unless the Chair determines a meeting is needed to address urgent business.
