Salary Scales for FY21

The Fairfax County School Board approved the fiscal year 2021 (FY21) budget on May 21, 2020.  The budget, revised due to the COVID-19 pandemic, reduces the previously recommended transfer increase from Fairfax County from $89.7 million to $7.3 million and includes a reduction of $4.8 million in revenue from the state. Along with other changes, the total amount of the FY21 budget is reduced by $67.0 million and results in the elimination of step increases and market scale adjustments for employees.

For FY21, Teacher, School-Based Administrator, and Unified Scale employees remain on the same step number with the same step salary value as FY20.

The FY21 Approved Budget does include the second phase of a three-year implementation plan to bring the Classroom Instructional Support (CIS) scale to 50 percent of the teacher salaries on the bachelor pay lane.  CIS Scale employees remain on the same step number, and the majority of CIS employees will see a slight increase in monetary value due to the scale enhancement.  Steps on the FY20 scale where the monetary value was already at or exceeded 50 percent of the teacher salaries on the bachelor lane remain unchanged for FY 2021.
