Dependent Turning Age 26

Benefit Considerations for when FCPS Employees' Dependents Turn Age 26

When your child turns age 26, your child is no longer eligible for FCPS coverage as a dependent. Your dependent will be automatically removed from your coverage. Coverage will end on the last day of the month in which your child turns 26, unless certified as disabled by your health/dental plan prior to his/her 26th birthday.

Even though your child may be aging off your FCPS coverage, your child will be eligible for COBRA coverage. With COBRA, your child will be able to keep the same benefits as now for an additional 36 months. However, your child will be responsible to pay the full cost of coverage.
