Summer 2024 Positions
Academic Programs
The Instructional Services Department will provide an opportunity for students to recover high school course credits and prepare for select SOL or WorkKeys tests. Credit Recovery Academy courses provide an opportunity for students who have failed a course to recover standard course credit. Students are eligible to enroll in a Credit Recovery Academy course if they have received a grade of F previously. There is no tuition for FCPS students to take a Credit Recovery Academy course.
Credit Recovery Academy Counselor
Description: Schedules students; assists the summer learning administrator; monitors students; serves on the test team; verifies student information with other schools and with central office staff as needed; assists the Commencement Coordinators in the planning and implementation of a district-wide commencement ceremony; assists students with questions concerning their academic program; supports grade reporting, attendance reporting, and report card processing.
Qualifications: Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education with endorsement as a School Counselor, PreK-12. Experience as a high school counselor, preferred. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Summer Learning Commencement Coordinator
Description: Collaborates with parents, students, and central office personnel to organize and coordinate a district-wide high school commencement ceremony; performs counseling duties as needed; works with base schools, FCPS summer learning counselors and administrators to collect information and verify course credits.
Qualifications: Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education with endorsement as a School Counselor, PreK-12. Knowledge of diploma types and requirements; understanding of FCPS transcripts.

Computer Resource Teacher
Description: Supports teachers and students in an integrated learning environment that includes an extensive use of technology; supports the Summer Test Coordinator and Manager for the Credit Recovery Academy; serves as a member of the test team; delivers test administration training; verifies network printers are functioning; identifies appropriate test rooms, computers, and other hardware; coordinates with assessment coach, technology support specialists, and the Summer Test teams to verify that all systems are operational; delivery of roaming technology support during entire test window.
Qualifications: Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education with endorsement in any discipline. School-based technology specialist experience in a High School environment, preferred. Knowledge of Google, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and digital curriculum; ability to resolve basic issues with various programs and functions, including online textbooks, SIS, Schoology, TI-Smart View, Geometer’s Sketch Pad, Discovery Streaming; ability to resolve issues with SMART Boards.

ESOL Resource Teacher
Description: Provides intervention and direct instruction for English learners (ELs) who need additional support to earn credit in core subjects; assists ELs in comprehending content material during a short timeframe and completing the specific activities within the course; works collaboratively with general education teachers and other staff members to perform curricular and instructional tasks; provides guidance regarding differentiation strategies for ELs and appropriate accommodations for classroom instruction.
Qualifications: Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education with endorsement in ESOL, PreK-12. Experience in teaching or team teaching one or more of the following courses: English 9-12, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Algebra, Functions, and Data Analysis (AFDA), Biology, Chemistry, Geosystems, World History and Geography I, World History and Geography II, VA/US History, VA/US Government, preferred. Description: Assists students with finding literature appealing to and appropriate with a variety of reading interests and needs; conducts outreach to students and staff in support of Credit Recovery Academy goals.
Qualifications: Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education with endorsement in Library Media PreK-12 plus experience with the Destiny Discover and MackinVIA library platforms. Experience in Guided Inquiry Design and project-based learning, preferred. Experience working collaboratively to design and facilitate instruction, preferred. SOL and WorkKeys Remediation
SOL remediation is provided for the following Virginia Standards of Learning End-of-Course tests: Algebra 1, Geometry, and Biology. WorkKeys remediation is provided for English 11 Reading, and Writing. Teachers must be endorsed in the subject area of the remediation and experienced with using Learning Management Systems (LMS) to facilitate instruction. Preference will be given to applicants with successful experience as SOL and WorkKeys remediation instructors who are effective in a fast-paced, individualized learning environment working with a variety of learners with specific ESOL and special education support.

Credit Recovery Academy Summer Test Administration
Summer Learning Test Coordinator
Description: Collaborates with OAR to develop and oversee the test schedule; acquires needed materials; completes evaluation of test site(s); identifies testing rooms; communicates with site administrators, and teachers/staff; supports other sites as needed with organizing and creating test sessions, collecting student performance and accommodation information, administering tests, and reporting test scores; ensures the accurate coding of students.
Qualifications: Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education. Experience as a secondary assessment coach and/or school test coordinator, preferred.

Summer Learning Test Manager
Description: Leads the facilitating WorkKeys Reading Workplace Documents, WorkKeys Business Writing, and SOL testing for summer credit recovery students; collaborates with OAR staff to develop and oversee the test schedule; acquires needed materials; completes evaluation of test site(s); identifies testing rooms; communicate with site administrators, the test site(s) designee, and teachers/staff; ensures the accurate coding of students; collaborates with the Office of Assessment and Reporting (OAR) to support the Summer Learning Test Managers for Credit Recovery Academy and Online Campus to promote effective administration of WorkKeys and SOL testing across all sites. Completion of test administration training through the Office of Assessment and Reporting (OAR) will be required.

Safety and Security Specialist
Description: Supports the centrally located programs at the high school academic program sites; guides the development and implementation of a program for student security and supervision that fosters a safe environment and positive school–community relations; supports various aspects of student activities; performs related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, or a related field plus four (4) years of progressively more experience in safety and security and certification by the Virginia Center for School Safety, required. Knowledge of local county, and state rules and regulations requiring an alcohol-, drug-, weapons- and tobacco-free environment; knowledge of student safety and conduct; ability to enforce those regulations; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public. Applicants must be at least 21 years old at time of appointment.

School Health Room Aide Floater
Description: Provides onsite coverage and assistance to a primary School Health Aide; provides screening, care, and health record documentation for sick and injured students within the school and on school grounds according to established guidelines; facilitates administration of medications; performs special health care procedures such as epinephrine injections, glucagon injections, and nebulization treatments; acts as a primary health room attendant in the absence of the School Health Aide. Scheduled training on July 1 and 2.
Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate, plus two (2) years of experience working with children and families. Current CPR and AED certifications, required. Two (2) years of supplemental coursework in a related field to education or human services preferred. Knowledge of CDC/safety protocols and procedures; proficiency in technology; ability to ensure compliance with policies and procedures; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with school staff members, students and community members.

Student Information Assistant
Description: Performs accurate, responsible and confidential computerized student information system (SIS) processing, data entry, and complex data and/or statistical reporting following local directive and state guidelines ensuring data accuracy; performs administrative duties involving public and student contacts; tracks necessary attendance data and completes attendance reporting as assigned; assists with grade reporting, close-out, supply distribution, collection, and inventory.
Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate plus three (3) years of progressively more responsible office experience. Experience as a student information assistant, preferred. Knowledge of office procedures and database management methods and practices related to student information including confidentiality requirements; ability to multitask, work in a busy office environment, and apply time management skills; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Description: Assists teachers with classroom activities; distributes and collects materials during class sessions; may assist teachers with approved lab set ups; may assist students with research, project completion, or small group work.
Qualifications: Experience working with middle or high school students in a summer program setting preferred; must be a current FCPS student, experienced with Schoology; Applicants must be at least 15 years old at time of appointment.
