FCPS needs substitute teachers and substitute instructional assistants. Substitute teaching is a great opportunity for stay-at-home parents, retirees, college students, and anyone who wants a flexible work schedule. Like many school districts across the region and country, FCPS is looking for kind and caring substitute teachers to ensure our students continue to thrive when teachers need to be out of the building. If you are interested in working as a substitute teacher or a substitute instructional assistant, you ae able parameters for the days you are available, the grade levels you would like to teach, or the schools where you want to assist!

For external candidates looking to learn more about becoming a substitute teacher or instructional assistant.
- Sessions are held virtually weekly on Wednesdays from 1-2 p.m. Candidates will receive an email link to the virtual information session the Monday before the session.

Interested in Becoming a Substitute Teacher?
The first step to becoming an FCPS substitute teacher is to fill out an application. Once an interested candidate’s application, orientation, and background check are completed and approved, hired substitutes can expect to step into a classroom within a week!
