On behalf of the Fairfax County School Board, I want to convey our appreciation to the voters of Fairfax County who approved the 2021 School Construction Bond Referendum.

Roughly 70% of those voting in the election on Tuesday, November 2, supported the $360 million bond referendum, continuing a long history of support of school bond approvals in Fairfax County.

We are grateful so many voters showed their support for the 178,000 students who learn in Fairfax County Public Schools, and value our schools as community spaces. I would also like to extend our appreciation and thanks to the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce and the Citizen Committee for Better Schools led by Len Forkas, for publicly supporting the referendum.

These funds will enable us to proceed with construction, renovations, enhancements, and planning for improvements to 14 schools and the acquisition of land for a new high school in the western Fairfax County. Projects funded by the 2021 bond referendum will upgrade current facilities for our students, staff members, and the tens of thousands of Fairfax County residents who use the schools for recreation, meetings, and community events.

Again, thank you for your support of Fairfax County Public Schools.
