Possibilities to Pedaling in Three Months
Since its arrival on the healthcare scene, Innovation Health has been an engaged business partner with Fairfax County Public Schools. Beginning in spring 2015 with a school-based partnership at Pine Spring Elementary School in Falls Church and expanding in fall 2017 to nearby Westlawn Elementary, Innovation Health supports students with needs-based donations, health education, an arts program, and a general volunteering program.
Over the years, Innovation Health has provided considerable time, effort and resources for:
• Weekend food programs.
• School supply and backpack drives.
• An arts trading and display program.
• Read Across America guest readers.
• And other donations like winter wear and health and hygiene items.
In December 2017, Innovation Heath made a sizeable and generous donation to the Foundation for Fairfax County Public Schools of $164,974 to expand the comprehensive FCPS Safe Routes to School program.
Safe Routes to Schools educates students on safe walking and bicycling, encourages students to use active transportation, and partners with the Fairfax County Department of Transportation and Fairfax County Police Department to keep students safe while walking and bicycling. To teach more students, additional bicycles were needed, and the Innovation Health donation fully funds this program at 10 additional elementary and 5 middle schools – including the purchase of helmets and a storage shed at each school.
Innovation Health’s approach to partnering is also to be lauded. By supporting an existing FCPS program, we moved from possibilities to pedaling, in three months.
Thank you to the entire team at Innovation Health for giving your time, efforts, and resources, and for supporting the health and well-being of students at so many schools.
Innovation Health, you are now a recipient of the 2018 Virginia School Boards Association Business Honor Roll!
