Planning for Return to School

Dear FCPS Families,

Gov. Northam has provided guidance  that allows Virginia schools to slowly resume in-person classes for the coming academic year. The guidance provided by the state will be used to assist FCPS in the development of our Return to School Plan. Monday, June 15, my office will present to the Fairfax County School Board for their consideration details for Return to School plans that could be in place when the 2020-21 school year begins.  Our plans will comply with the state guidance along with health and social distancing protocols.  For any in-person instruction, the state guidance prioritizes health and safety by ensuring physical distancing measures are maintained in classrooms, buses, and shared spaces.  A second meeting with the School Board to discuss our plans for next school year is scheduled for June 23. The School Board meetings are live streamed here

A survey is being sent this week to parents and FCPS employees regarding the various return to school options and we encourage you to provide us your feedback to help us develop the very best plan we can possibly offer to our students and families for 2020-21. We have also set up an email address for you to share any comments or suggestions you may have regarding return to school. Please send us your thoughts at .

Our goal is to have a Return to School Plan agreed upon by the end of the month. We will continue to keep parents, staff, and students informed as we prepare for the 2020-21 school year.
