Twice-Exceptional (2e) students have high academic abilities. They also have learning challenges or disabilities. 2e students need classroom settings that focus on their strengths. At the same time, these students require flexible instruction and support in their areas of need.

FCPS has developed a handbook and other resources to guide families and schools in their support of 2e learners.

Some topics included in the handbook are:

  • FCPS philosophy
  • Who are 2e learners?
  • Legislation
  • Best practices for instruction
  • Social-emotional impacts
  • Who to contact for support

The 2e Handbook and resources are available to school staff and families on the FCPS website.
