Principal Karim Daugherty recruited Dr. Kristen Hollen three years ago as a STEM resource teacher. She used to work in a neuroscience laboratory. She found her passion for teaching while she was overseas with her husband.

Since she came to Beech Tree, she has launched an EcoClub, which led to an increase in the school's recycling by 79 percent and their first EcoSchools Silver Award. Dr. Hollen was also the recent winner of an FCPS Excellence Award for Impact on Others.
