Congratulations to the thousands of FCPS student-athletes who overcame obstacles, stops and starts, and closely adhered to many health and safety strategies throughout this year's fall sports season. In a year like no other, athletes faced a set of complex challenges. Additionally, three FCPS teams and three individuals won the Virginia High School League (VHSL) championships in their respective sports, and three teams and one individual were the state runners-up. 

The teams winning the championship were:

• Oakton High School, Class 6 Boys Cross Country.
• Madison High School, Class 6 Girls Field Hockey.
• Langley High School, Class 6 Golf.

The individuals winning the championship were:

• Thais Rolly, McLean High School, Class 6 Girls Cross Country.
• Kelly Chinn, Langley High School, Class 6 Boys Golf.
• Melanie Walker, Robinson Secondary School, Class 6 Girls Golf. 

The teams that were state runners-up were:

• Chantilly High School, Class 6 Cheer.
• West Springfield, Class 6 Boys Cross Country.
• West Springfield, Class 6 Girls Cross Country.
• South County High School, Class 6 Football. 

The individual that was a state runner-up was Garrett Woodhouse from Oakton High School for Class 6 Boys Cross Country.
