I had a wonderful time this year visiting dozens of schools across FCPS. I witnessed best practices for students including math workshop, two-way language immersion, team teaching, mindfulness and meditation, and movement breaks in the classroom.

One of the visits that touched me the most was spending time with the Garrison Commander of Fort Belvoir and students from Orange Hunt ES. The children impressed me with their honesty about what it means to be a military-connected student. I am so proud of the strength that they show in being supportive to their loved ones who help to protect our nation.

So many of you stopped me during visits to tell me how much you love being a part of the FCPS family. You shared your commitment to continuing our equity journey and ensuring that all of our students have access to high-quality instruction.

I enjoyed attending graduations this past week, and I know there are still a few more to go! I want to thank all of you who have had a part in guiding these students to the next phase of their life. I can't wait to see what their future holds. Perhaps some of them will be coming back to work alongside you in a few years!
