Madison Summer Academy
This academy provides summer acceleration for eligible FCPS students.
The Madison Summer Academy offers Honors Geometry and Health & PE 10 for eligible FCPS students who are current or incoming students at the following high schools:

Courses may be cancelled if they are under enrolled or due to a lack of staff. If a course is cancelled, students will be notified using the registration contact information provided and a full refund will be given.
Student must be taking the course for new, first-time credit only.
Transportation is the responsibility of the student, parent, or guardian. There is no bus transportation.
Lunch will not be provided. Students should plan to bring their own food.
SOL Testing Requirement
Students will take the Standards of Learning End of Course Test:
- If required for federal accountability.
- Or for use as a verified credit (high school credit courses only).
All students will need to show a photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, school ID, passport) to enter the testing location. If a student cannot show proof of identity, he or she will not be able to take the test.
Students who have successfully completed Algebra 1 are eligible to take Honors Geometry. This course will be taught using a variety of instruction such as direct instruction, inquiry-based instruction, problem-based instruction, etc. Throughout the day, there will be a combination of online modules, small group work, and individual work sessions.

Health & PE 10
Students who will be in grade 10 during the 2020-21 school year are eligible to take this course.
In addition to the physical education and health curriculum, students will complete the driver education curriculum and are required to:
- Complete the classroom Driver Education.
- Attend a Partners for Safe Teen Driving (PSTD) presentation with a parent or guardian.
- The date of the seminar will be included on the course syllabus.
- Attending the presentation before July 24, 2020 is required to pass the driver education part of the course.
Students who complete the classroom Driver Education and attend the presentation get a DEC-District 8 (pink) card.
This card is proof of completion and allows a student with a permit to continue with the drivers licensing process.
