Madison Summer Academy

This academy provides summer acceleration for eligible FCPS students.

The Madison Summer Academy offers courses in Geometry Honors and Health & PE 10 for eligible FCPS students who are current or incoming students at the following high schools:

  • Madison
  • Marshall
  • McLean
  • Oakton

Courses are cancelled in the event of low enrollment or lack of staff. In those instances, students will be notified and given a full refund.

Eligibility

Student must be electing the course for new, first-time credit only.

Transportation

Transportation is the responsibility of the student, parent, or guardian. There is no bus transportation.

SOL Testing Requirement

Students will take the Standards of Learning End of Course Test:

  • If required for federal accountability.
  • Or for use as a verified credit (high school credit courses only).

All students will need to show a photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, school ID, passport) to enter the testing location. If a student cannot show proof of identity, he or she will not be able to take the test.

Course Offerings

Geometry Honors

Students who have successfully completed Algebra 1 are eligible to take Geometry Honors. This course will be taught using a variety of instruction such as direct instruction, inquiry-based instruction, problem-based instruction, etc. Throughout the day, there will be a combination of online modules, small group work, and individual work sessions.

Health & PE 10

Students who will be in grade 10 during the 2019-2020 school year are eligible to take this course.
