Virginia Placement Test Registration for FCPS Sites
Ensuring that you start college off in the right place!
The Virginia Placement Test (VPT) will review a student's skills in math, English, and English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) in order to determine where the student should begin when first enrolling at a Virginia community college. Select FCPS high schools offer the VPT to their own students at various times each spring. Students should check with their school counselor regarding the registration process.
You can also take the VPT at any NOVA campus testing center. For more information, visit: https://www.nvcc.edu/testing/campus.html.
VPT is an untimed test; however, students with an IEP or 504 requiring academic accommodations for a placement test should visit NOVA’s Disability Services website at http://www.nvcc.edu/current-students/disability-services/index.html and follow the instructions for requesting accommodations prior to taking your placement test. Please note that it may take up to three weeks or longer to respond to some accommodation requests during peak registration times.
You should allow at least two to three hours to complete the English placement test.
