Sign Language Interpreter Accommodations

The use of sign language interpreters is one of many accommodations available for employees who are deaf or hard of hearing. Other accommodations available include subtitles, captioning, and assistive technology devices such as UbiDuo. Employees are encouraged to discuss these options with the Office of Employee Relations (OER). OER has an established process for requesting, scheduling, and canceling sign language interpreter service requests.

Submitting a Request

Job applicants needing sign language interpreter services should ask their employment services representative to submit a request form on their behalf. Those needing sign language interpreter services should submit an FCPS StaffConnect ticket to the Office of Employee Relations (OER)

Those needing sign language interpreter services should submit a request form through FCPS StaffConnnect.

A request form must be submitted to OER at least three (3) business days before the scheduled event. We make every effort to provide services but cannot guarantee a sign language interpreter will be provided, especially if we do not receive 3-days notice. FCPS is charged for a minimum of two hours. Requests lasting longer than two hours require a second interpreter.

Cancellations must be made 3 business days prior to the scheduled event.
