Part
of the AmeriCorps network of service programs operated
by the Corporation for National and Community Service
that provides opportunities for full and part time
service in exchange for education awards. It is
a 10-month, team-based, full-time residential program.
Members live in dormitory-style housing at one of
5 campuses located in South Carolina, Maryland,
Colorado, California and Washington, D.C. Upon completion
of the program, members receive an education award
of $4,725 that can be used for college, training
or student loans. During their term of service members
receive room & board, uniforms, training, health

– is offering high school students an opportunity
to develop leadership skills. This organization
wants to form a team of responsible, creative teens
to further the interests of the Northern Virginia
Chapter of the National Autism Association. The
team needs someone for each of the following skills:
Excellent penmanship, Facebook developer, Fundraising
head, and an Outgoing person who will provide support
at Chamber of Commerce events and other public appearances.

in becoming Teacher’s Aides to work with people
of all ages who have learning, physical, mental,
emotional, and/or sensory disabilities in the Adapted
Aquatics Program. Once trained, the Teacher’s
Aide is able to work with students, one on one,
in a class setting under the guidance of an Adapted
Aquatics Instructor. Benefits include volunteer
hours, personal satisfaction of helping others,
free usage of the RECenter facilities and the opportunity
to take free classes. Training (hands-on pool work,
video, discussion and fun) is scheduled for Providence
RECenter on Jan 10, 2009 from 1-6pm. Dress comfortably
