West Springfield Writing Center (WSWC)

What is the Writing Center? A place where students improve their writing by conferencing with trained peer tutors at any stage of the writing process. Students can work on writing assignments, resumes, college applications, or any other type of writing.

Where? Room 283 (Across the hall from the Main Office)

When?

LUNCH on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays
SPARTAN TIME on all “flex” days
AFTER SCHOOL on Wednesdays from 2:20 - 4:00 p.m.

How does it work?

1. Make an appointment. Sign up on the sign-up board outside room 283. If you will be coming from lunch, see Ms. Goransson during non-instructional time to get a pass to leave the cafeteria.

2. Fill out the Student Cover Sheet (available next to sign-up board).

3. Bring necessary materials:

The assignment sheet and grading rubric

Any work you have already done on the assignment (drafts, planning, etc.)

The completed Student Cover Sheet

4. Conference. Arrive on time for your appointment.
Your tutor will help you improve your writing based on your indicated priorities.
