Oracle

The Oracle endeavors to entertain, encourage, and inform the Springfield and Burke communities of happenings at West Springfield, in Fairfax County, and beyond. It is a forum for student expression as well as a learning instrument for student journalists. The Oracle is a member publication of the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, the National Scholastic Press Association, Quill & Scroll, the Southern Interscholastic Press Association, the Virginia High School League, the Public Relations Society of American, the American Scholastic Press Association, and the Society of Professional Journalists, Sigma Delta Chi. Symposium

All students are eligible to submit original essays, short stories, commentaries, music compositions, technical or architectural drawings, plays, poems, interviews, feature articles, black & white art including drawings (ink, marker, scratchboard, very dark pencil), prints (relief, etching, silkscreen), paintings, graphic designs, crafts, sculpture, and photographs.

The deadline for literary submissions is December 15. English and art teachers have submission forms.

Published in the spring, the magazine is distributed as part of the yearbook/newspaper package. Single copies of the magazine are available for five dollars. This student-generated creative writing publication showcases the compositions, art, and music of WSHS students.
