by  Ann Brashares.   Four BFF (best friends forever) share a pair of jeans over the course of asummer, as each takes a very different course in life. F Bra

The Princess Diaries
, by Meg Cabot.  Mia is a typical New York City teen, except that her grandmother happens to be the queen of a small kingdom in Europe. Can Mia adapt to being royalty?  F Cab

Old Yeller
by Fred Gipson.  A boy and his dog share many adventures until tragedy intervenes. F Gip

Flush, by Carl Hiassen
Hoot,  by Carl Hiassen.  
Hiassen is a long-time advocate of slowing the destruction of his native Florida ecosystem but always couples that perspective with an offbeat sense of humor.

A Time for Dancing, by Davida Wills Hurwin. A classic story of BFF (best friend forever), love and loss. Get out the box of tissues, because this one will leave you sobbing. F Hur

The Secret Life of Bees, by Sue Monk Kidd.   In 1964, in the deep South, Lily and her Black housekeeper Rosaleen leave Lily's abusive father, ultimately finding refuge,  self-, and political awareness with 3 African-American sisters who keep bees. F Kid

Sarah, Plain and Tall
, by Patricia  MacLachlan. Will Maine mail-order-bride Sarah be accepted and even loved by her new Midwestern family? F Mac

Eragon by Christopher PaoliniEragon and Saphira, his wise and beautiful dragon, in this first book of a trilogy, battle the bad guys to a standstill.  Fan Pao

Gone with the Wind
, by Margaret Mitchell. Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler make their way through the War Between the States and the resulting Reconstruction Era.  F Mil

Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone by J.K. Rowling. Harry discovers that
there is another world beyond his unpleasant relatives and that he has special gifts as well as a special mission. Fan Row

These books are available for loan from the WSHS Library, which is open
Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 3:30 beginning
July 30.

The loan period is 3 weeks, no renewals, with overdue fines of $1 per non-holiday weekday. All WSHS Library obligations must be cleared prior to checkout.
