GUIDELINES
- Use
of the library is a privilege.
- Come
with a class or come with a pass and key in student ID number at the
front desk, without food, gum, drinks.
- Before
you leave, please push chairs in and put trash in wastebaskets/recycle
bins.
- Respect
the right of other students to study.
- Respect
the right of others to use library materials. (You may not check out
books if you have overdue books or a fine.)
- Use
technology in accordance with WSHS and FCPS Guidelines. That means
school assignments only.
- Cell
phone use of any sort is prohibited at any time.
SPARTAN TIME
- You
do not need a pass for Spartan Time, but the maximum occupancy of
the library is 107 students, so you have to arrive early to get in.
You cannot come after the bell has rung (no passes accepted).
- We regularly have to turn students away, so only come to the library if you plan to work on an assignment. This is not an appropriate time or place to socialize.
- We
only stamp school planners. Make sure you have your planner with you.
For efficient entry, please have the planner open to the student's
barcode to be scanned by a librarian.
- Once
you have entered the library for Spartan Time, you cannot leave. If
you need to use library resources for only five or ten minutes, please
come at break, lunch, or after school.

Online Catalogue: used to locate books in the WSHS
Library, libraries in other FCPS schools, or the public library
- New
Student Orientation: provided during Spartan Time to all
students new to West Springfield High School
CHECKING OUT
- 3-week loan period / fine $.10 per school day.
- You cannot check out a book if you have fines or an overdue book.
REFERENCE and RESERVE
- Overnight checkout only (due by 7:30 am)
- Fine $1.00 per school day
SUMMER READING
- 1-time checkout (no renewals)
- 3-week loan period
- Fine $1.00 per weekday overdue
PRINTING
- $.10 per page
- No color printing awailable. Sorry.
- You
are responsible for what you print so ask for help if you need it.
