AP DIPLOMA PROGRAM For several years, West Springfield High School was part of a pilot project from College Board which awarded the Advanced Placement Diploma to students who achieved a score of 3 or higher on a minimum of 5 AP exams in four core curriculum areas. The recipients from the Class of 2005 were the last to be awarded this distinction from College Board. West Springfield High School offers one of the largest selections of Advanced Placement courses in Fairfax County. Opportunities are available for students to pursue the intellectual challenge of these rigorous courses beginning in the 10th grade. AP European history, art history, and music theory may be appropriate for sophomores while other offerings are intended for juniors and seniors. Students who enroll in an Advanced Placement class are expected to remain in that class at least through the first quarter. |
