ELEMENTARY OUTREACH Accompanied with students from my oceanography class, I visit elementary and preschool classes to teach them about whales. We discuss the differences between toothed and baleen whale feeding habits, sounds produced by whales, and characteristics of whales. The young students are shown artifacts and participate in hands-on activities. Going inside a life-size replication of a fin whale is the grand finale for young and old alike.
