Most terrestrial anmials are mollusks, arthropods, or chorodates.Some types of mollusks include Gastropoda, Pelecypoda, andCephalopoda. Some characteristics include:
-they have 3 body segments
-they have a body cavity called a coelom and hence they are called Coelomates -they are invertebrates
-they name mollusks comes from Latin "mollis" meaning "soft" to indicate their soft bodies
-they often have shells to inclose their soft bodies
-they are the second largest phylum in the animal kingdom
-there are 65,000 species


-some mollusks, like the cuttlefish, are used to make pet products. The cuttlefish is used to make "scratching posts" for birds. People also love to eat mollusks like octopuses and squids.
