Characteristics


-Arthropods are split into four classes. The classes are Insecta, Archnida, Crustatca, and Chilopodia

-Arthropods have an exoskeleton that protects them from injury,provides a place for muscle attachment, and prevents water loss.

-Arthropods go through metamorphosis. Metamorphosis is where the body changes from one stage to another until the creature becomes an adult. The body drastically changes and the larva (baby) and Adult look very different.

-Arthropods also have appendages. Appendages of arthropods include wings,antennas,legs,and mouthparts.


Information


-Arthropods are the most successful group of animals that ever lived. Two-Thirds of all named species of organisms on Earth are Arthropods.

-Arthropods are believed to have evolved from Annelids





Products

Arthropods are used as a food source for many different animals and for some humans. They are also used in science experiments.
