WSHS Jazz Guitar Combo

The study of Jazz and Contemporary Music is important for the modern guitarist. This class is centered on the study of Jazz based music through performance. Students will perform pieces arranged for Jazz Guitar Combo and small combo. The students will study all the elements necessary for performance in a small group setting: balance, blend, intonation, and timbre. All students will be expected to improvise melodic lines in various different styles. Students are required to perform in every concert scheduled throughout the school year. This group also assists the WSHS Choral Department by serving as the accompaniment band to the Personalities and Pizazz. All guitarists must also be a member of one of the WSHS Guitar Ensembles.
