The West Springfield High School band program serves an enrollment of 200 students in four concert bands, Jazz Ensemble, Marching Spartans, Percussion Ensemble, Indoor Marching Percussion, and Color Guard. Students are provided the opportunity to participate in a balanced musical training curriculum including large and small ensembles. Private music study with many professional musicians and teachers in the area is commonplace among a high percentage of the band program membership.

West Springfield High School Bands have a long tradition of excellence, performing in numerous festivals and competitions to great acclaim from colleagues and adjudicators alike. National festivals we have participated in have included Musicfest Orlando and Fiesta-val in New York City. In April 2005, we returned to Orlando, FL.

West Springfield Bands have always placed a large number of performers in the Virginia All-District and the All-Virginia Band and Orchestra. Ninety-five percent of those who attend the Solo and Ensemble Festival receive superior ratings.
