The Great Gatsby

Biloxi, Tennessee

Biloxi - A flaw that confuses most people, Biloxi, Tennessee does not really exist. The city of Biloxi is in the state of Mississippi. There is constant confusion on whether this "mistake" was on the part of Fitzgerald or on the part of the characters. Some believe that it was done purposely to make Tom and the rest of the characters appear unintelligent. The city is not a significant geographical area in the book, which is probably why no one bothered to ensure the accuracy of its location. The city is where a freeloader, named "Blocks" Biloxi lived. He was some man who crashed Daisy and Tom's wedding. He claimed to Daisy that he was an old friend of Tom's while telling Tom he was a friend of Daisy's. He is remembered as the man who fainted at Tom and Daisy's wedding reception.
