Dr. Richard Moniuszko, serves as the deputy to the division superintendent; and manages all Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) educational programs at the district and school levels. Dr. Moniuszko became part of Fairfax County Public Schools as the school system’s deputy superintendent in May 2006. Before coming to FCPS, Dr. Moniuszko served as the deputy superintendent in Richland School District One in Columbia, South Carolina. While in this position, Dr. Moniuszko developed a five-year strategic plan that included implementing programs that doubled student enrollment in Advanced Placement (AP) coursework and established partnerships with four local colleges to enhance student course options. Prior to his work in Richland County schools, Dr. Moniuszko served the Charlotte-Mecklenburg (NC) Schools as director of instructional accountability and director of pupil services. He began his educational career as a school psychologist, then director of special services, and assistant superintendent in Spartanburg (SC) District Two Schools. He has served as a program consultant for the College Board Southern Regional Office and a visiting faculty member at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, Winthrop University, and Converse College. Dr. Moniuszko earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia, his master’s degree from Winthrop University, and his doctoral degree in education from the University of South Carolina.
