Flint Hill Elementary School and Interstate Worldwide Relocation

Flint Hill Elementary School and Interstate Worldwide Relocation launched its partnership this year. Already much has been planned and accomplished.

At the partnership kickoff in March, Interstate brought an 18-wheeler tractor-trailer to the school. The company constructed a maze inside the back of the trailer out of all different kinds of moving materials. During a three-day period, all of the classes throughout the school had an opportunity to visit the maze, see the inside of the cab, and sit in the driver’s seat! The students especially enjoyed the maze, particularly the part where they got to walk on bubble wrap.

One of the cornerstones of the partnership will be the “Traveling Falcon” program. The Flint Hill Elementary School mascot is the Falcon. The school presented several stuffed falcons to Interstate as a gift at the partnership kickoff. These stuffed falcons will be given to various movers that travel around the United States. Along the way, the movers will e-mail or write postcards from their destinations so that the students can track the falcons’ whereabouts and also learn interesting facts about the different places that the falcon has traveled.

Also integral to the partnership is Interstate’s annual sponsorship of the school’s EXCEL award. The award is given annually to one boy and one girl in each class that exhibit the RITE behaviors, respect, integrity, teamwork and excellence. Interstate will present these awards each spring beginning this year, and the winning students will have their names placed on a plaque that will hang in the school.

Interstate will also display student artwork at its Springfield headquarters. Each month, ten new pieces of art will be displayed. The student artists will be recognized in the PTA newsletter and will receive certificates.

Interstate has already made generous donations to the PTA’s largest fundraiser of the year and presented all the classroom teachers and specialists with gifts for Teacher Appreciation Week.

The school is delighted to have Interstate on board as a partner, and looks forward to building a successful relationship in the years to come.
